IN LOVING MEMORY OF ONEL ECCLESIASTE

Husband. Father. Scholar. Jurist

1955 – 2025

Onel Ecclesiaste entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2025. A man of quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering faith, Onel was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend. He lived a life rooted in service, humility, and integrity, earning the deep respect of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Throughout his distinguished career in public service and the law, Onel rose to the esteemed position of Doyen (Chief Judge) of the Tribunal Civil de Fort-Liberté, where he served for over twenty years with wisdom, fairness, and a steadfast commitment to justice. A scholar as well as a jurist, he recently authored La sortie du Christ des Trois Piliers du Judaïsme, a thoughtful and original contribution to Christian and Judaic thought. Onel is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Suzie M. Ecclesiaste; his three children: Suzie E. Denis (Enock Denis), François Onel Ecclesiaste (Fayise Ecclesiaste), and Marc Lionel Ecclesiaste (Karla Ecclesiaste); his eight grandchildren: Marquel, Donell, Karneil, Marc-Li, Fiori, Karli, Amarie and M.E.; and his siblings: Louis-Jean Ecclesiaste, Layanne Ecclesiaste, and Gislaine Bernadin. He will be remembered for his humility, wisdom, and the quiet love he gave so freely to his family, colleagues, and community. His legacy of leadership and compassion lives on in all who were touched by his life. On behalf of the Ecclesiaste family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his dear friends, former colleagues, and fellow jurists—and to all who loved him during his extraordinary and impactful life. May his memory continue to inspire justice, service, and faith in all who follow the path he so honorably shaped.

In Lieu of Flowers, The Ecclesiaste family kindly requests that you honor Onel’s legacy by contributing to the College Mixte Le Rameau Scholarship Fund - an educational initiative co-founded by Onel and his beloved wife, Suzie, which has been serving the community for over 30 years.

Through this fund, full scholarships are provided to children in Haiti (Grades K–6), granting them the opportunity to attend school and receive a life-changing education. Your gift ensures that Onel’s commitment to justice, education, and empowerment lives on.
